2008 In a Nutshell

My 2008

My first moments were spent seeing a DJ set by Justice in downtown LA. Mike and I rode around LA and I lost control of my bike hitting a oil spot. Oh snap! That was a fun night, rode a lot. Rosy visited LA for a week and fell in love with everything, later that week Jess E and Nick Matos visited. Nick stayed for a few weeks, feeling out LA, loving the trees that came with it!

I spent my birthday to some surprise In N' Out, which was amazzzing and ended with good friends, wine, and cheesecake.

I did the Justice tour with MySpace from late feb to early april. Straight up, this tour was ridiculous. If you have seen the Justice "A Cross The Universe" DVD that was filmed on this tour you have an idea of what went down. We sure drank too much on this tour and sure have some crazy stories that we shouldn't share with you, but wow. This was definitely a tour where you live like rockstars. It also helped having only 4 people on one bus and having 90% of the shows selling out. This video below is just taken from some performance I shot on this tour.

Than I did warped tour with The Higher from mid june to early august. What a different experience on warped than the previous years I have done it. I didn't make too many friends on that tour and couldn't really hangout too much, but it was fun indeed.

After that I was just in LA basically picking up gigs, living. Zach lived with us for the month of August. Than Sam and Octie came. At one point there were 6 people living in our house. Wow, that was a bit much.

In september Heather and I had a routine downpat. She would get off work early afternoon-ish, we would get together to get food, smoke, pick up Tony, go to Isani's place, than go to the beach. Than ice cream afterwards. Honestly, it was great. Friday nights would consist of Heather and I drinking 40's and maybe once in a while go out to meet friends.

I than did the Rockband tour with The Cab. Whoa, back in the van with 8 young people. I hadn't done a van tour in over two years. 9 people in one van, on an arena tour, 10 hour drives, equals stressful. Especially me not having a designated area where I could edit by myself really put a lot of pressure on me and the band as well.

Immediately I flew to NYC to live for the month of December. Needed a change and I love NYC. As much as I miss the weather and riding my bike everyday around LA, east coast will always have my heart.

Music I listened to a lot this year:

My Morning Jacket
Band Of Horses
Portugal. The Man
Bayside
Valencia
Erol Alkan
Dillinger Escape Plan
Chemical Brothers
Minus The Bear
Say Anything
Broken Social Scene
Against Me!

Favorites:

City: Chicago. The few great days I spent there this past summer, I really had a blast with Miranda being my tour guide. Sooo much fun. The last time I was there was even better. I want to be there again soon.

Food: Burrito King. Down the street from my place in LA, the best Carne Asada burritos you will ever have in your entire life! Mmmmmmm.

Show: The Get Up Kids. Of course, c'mon. By myself in Kansas City, MO seeing the Get Up Kids reunion show. A-mazzzing.

Albums: This is hard. Really hard. I'm torn between the new Portugal. The Man "Censored Colors" or "Nothing To Prove" by H2O, or "Murs For President" by Murs.

Movie: The Dark Knight. Duhhhhh.

Well I'm done!
Thanks to all who helped me in anyway this year, really.
